शाम की चाय

शाम की चाय 

ठंडी करके तो 

अक्सर पी है,

पर आज तो 

देर रात तक 

याद ही नहीं रहा, 

एक चुस्की तक 

नहीं ली है,

शायद यही होती है

ज़िन्दगी कारोबारी 

रोज़गार पेशा 

ज़िम्मेदार लोगों की,

यूं ही न हमसे

गिला किया करो सनम!  

Traffic Lights

Just three colours,

just three signs,

a bit of coercion

and fear of fine.

three simple rules,

everybody agrees,

everybody follows,

and no body minds,

people of all class

no caste, no religion

no creed, no colour

everybody in same line,

things moving day and night

smooth, ordered and fine

no conflicts, no fights

everybody with same rights

I say relook at philosophies

the religions and doctrines

and make them simple 

as the traffic lights.

I love parking lines

I love parking lines

such a simple system,

no human to guide

no personnel, to make

sure everybody abides,

day in day out, it 

keeps on working fine

with sensible people

parking the wonder of

mechanical engineering 

straight, and in line,

I wish I can bring, the 

same magic in my plans

systems and designs too

with the things working

smoothly day and night

for years and years

without any worry and woe.
